An insiders' guide - what corporate donors are really looking for in a charity partner

The session will explore what corporate donors are looking for from modern and progressive charity partnerships, drawing on the Founder of The Giving Department's wide experience of working with some of the largest corporate donors in the UK and globally. Steve will be joined by Catherine Ind, Head of the St. James's Place Charitable Foundation who will share her hands on experience on what this major corporate foundation is looking for. The session will focus on practical and pragmatic advise that will be relevant to all charities ā€“ large and small.

Steve Wickham - Director of The Giving Department

Steve has spent over 20 years in the charity sector. As a successful fundraiser Steve worked for a number of charities in senior roles most latterly as Head of Fundraising at The Princeā€™s Trust. This experience has given Steve a deep understanding of how companies and private funders can best support charities, how effective relationships can be developed, where value can be delivered and how the right support can deliver genuine and long-lasting change. Steve founded The Giving Department in 2010 with the clear vision of providing expert independent resource to help companies and philanthropists deliver real social impact and achieve their greatest charitable ambitions. Over the subsequent years Steve has developed the business, working with an increasingly wide portfolio of clients from FTSE100 companies to corporate foundations and private HNW philanthropists. Passionate about the sector, Steve is often called to speak on charitable issues and on occasions provides bespoke mentoring to help individuals build capability and impact.

Catherine Ind - Head of Foundation at St. Jamesā€™s Place Charitable Foundation

Catherine had headed up the St. James's Place Charitable Foundation (SJPCF) for over six years, having previously worked in various senior roles in the charity sector. The SJPCF is one of the largest corporate-linked foundations in the UK, donating over Ā£10million to hundreds of charities annually. Established over 30-years ago, the Foundation has donated over Ā£130 million to good causes since launch.
